Hello. So the 3DS eShop is closing, and I want Pokémon Transporter in Pokémon Bank. However, the app insists that I don't have any applicable Pokémon games on the console. I double checked, and I have a PokéDex in Pokémon Blue on the 3DS and a few Pokémon hanging out in PC Box 1. After doing more research than should be necessary, I have determined I have to go find a newer game like Pokémon US/UM

I've actually been trying to find my copy of Pokémon X or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, but so far, no luck. Without me oversharing angrily about where they might be, I don't even know if that'll work. Do I need a Gen 7 Pokémon game like Ultra Moon? Is there a clue anywhere? I just want to transfer a Gen I or II Pokémon on 3DS to a new game at some point in the far future.

While I'm waiting on a reply, I might play Pokémon Crystal Version on 3DS because I have no idea why it's not working with Pokémon Blue

Also, obligatory, "I don't know if I posted this in the correct forum." I swear there used to be a thread about the eShop closing, but I can't find it now.

You posted in the right place, don't worry.

As far as I know, Pokemon obtained on the VC ports of the Gen 1 and 2 games can only be transferred to Gen 7 games and not Gen 6 ones. Can you not transfer them to Bank at all without a Gen 7 game though? Never tried using Transporter or Bank with my VC Crystal myself, but I figured that you could at least send them to Bank and then hold onto them in there until you transfer them to some other game or HOME.

I can't get Poké Transporter at all until I insert an applicable game (or download one from the eShop) because Pokémon Bank insists I don't have an applicable game on the system. I just finished getting to the point where I get a PokéDex and Pokéballs in Crystal. I'm at the point in Blue where the protagonist has already met Bill. (I checked because I thought maybe that was a lore reason behind my problem.) I think I really do have to buy a newer Pokémon game like Pokémon USUM, or at least find my copy of X.

EDIT: I found a copy of Pokémon X, albeit I realize now this one's a sealed copy. I feel like I had one with a save file on it, but I guess it's whatever. I will test the Pokémon Bank app tomorrow. I have to take a mental health break tonight, but I don't really want to get into it.

Have you tried a Gen V game? Poké Transporter originated for moving things from Gen V to Bank so they could be used in Gen VI.

I don't have the Blue VC, but I at one point used Pokemon Transporter to transfer mons from the Crystal VC into ORAS, so gen 6 games should work as a recipient game too.

    Also saw this article: https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/25449/~/which-games-are-compatible-with-pok%C3%A9mon-bank-and-pok%C3%A9-transporter%3F
It sounds like you should be able to send them from the Blue VC into gen 6 games as well.

I just tested to verify if I was remembering right as it's been quite a while since I had last used both Poke Transporter and Bank.
I was able to use Poke Transporter and Bank just fine getting a random Rattata out of the Crystal VC and into Bank using the Transporter.
However it seems I misremembered from that point on as Bank would not let me put the Rattata into ORAS.

So for just getting them into Bank, having a gen 6 game inserted so you can actually access your boxes in Bank and empty the Poke Transporter works.
But putting a VC mon into a game does indeed seem to require a gen 7 game.

I woke up late today because I've got a sore throat (possibly allergies, possibly not), and then I had to get ready for this IRL thing. There's nothing too exciting, but I didn't want to try to get Pokémon Bank working while riding in the car with my one-year-old nephew, who seemingly does not enjoy car rides with my parents and me.

To answer your reply, Amore, I found my original copy of Pokémon Black Version, which probably has my save file from middle school. This might work actually, so I'm glad you suggested the idea. I will check it out tonight when I get back home.

I'm in a similar boat to you in wanting to get it working before eShop closes. I already have it on one console, but not on the others. When I put my copy of Black in…Bank just said there was no compatible software. So I think you need to use a 3DS title to set up Bank first then VC / Gen V card to get Poké Transporter

Yes, the Generation 6 game Pokémon X let me download Poké Transporter (just in case anyone's scrambling to get the app). You just need the one Pokémon in PC box 1 for the game to offer it to you.

I'm sorry for bumping the thread after all this time. I kept putting it off cuz I'm nervous about sealed copies of *Pokémon X* skyrocketing in value in several years (the way the GBA games and DS games have). Oh, well, I'm happy to have the app now.
