1 of a kind WarTortle misprint

    I have a 1st edition Wartortle with a jungle icon on the middle right of the card, Ive searched all over ebay and google and cant find one like mine.

    Sorry, buddy, but despite looking legit, that Jungle symbol means it's a fake. If it were a legit misprint, there would have been enough for it to have been a verified error years ago. Base Set cards just simply were not misprinted with the set symbol of the Jungle set (but some Jungle cards were misprinted without any set symbol).

    What probably happened is that someone took a legit Wartortle card and slapped the Jungle stamp onto it.
     
    Shame, given its a 1st edition and shadowless. Its probably the best looking fake I've seen though
     
    actually it is real ive been buying and collecting pokemon since i was a kid I stashed my cards away for 20 years this card came out of a pack nobody misprinted it I feel like your insulting my intelligence i didnt just obtain this ive had it since i was a kid and I moved and my cards were stored not touched for 20 years I just came across it because pokemon GO made the pokemon spirit come back

    your wrong an electrode from shadowless aka base pack as u call it alot of them got misprinted with the jungle icon too but theres alot of them all over the internet. do your research

    There were a hell of a lot of counterfeit booster packs circulating back in the day. People come on here all the time with fake cards from back in the day that they don't know are fakes. It's not an insult to your intelligence, it's a reminder that childhood nostalgia is tinging your memory on whether the card is the real deal or if it's a counterfeit. It's been nearly 18 years since the Base Set released in English in the USA. Given the hype around the game at the time and the fact that there's millions of people who never lost interest, if the Jungle stamp on Base Set cards were actually a legitimate error rather than a counterfeit, it would have been found out ages ago. This is something people have been actively collecting and researching since the game first released.

    Nope. That was the Jungle Electrode card mistakenly being printed with the Base Set card's art. And the 16 Jungle holo cards being printed without the Jungle set symbol.     The simple fact is it's a counterfeit for the reasons I've stated, and if you choose not to believe me, someone whose primary or secondary hobby the last 17 years has been collecting Pokemon cards, that's your prerogative.
     
    I never realized it and now its being brought to the table I know what I have I already have ppl telling me its worth thousands of dollars in person so dont give me that nonsense
     
    It's fake. It's not worth thousands of dollars, even if it was a legitimate misprint, it wouldn't be worth thousands of dollars. Stop talking absolute baloney, we weren't born yesterday.

    It's a shadowless, 1st edition. These were out of print by the time of Jungle. To be a real misprint they'd of had to of added the Jungle symbol before they even printed the English Jungle cards. There were 8 print runs of base set, 5-6 of them would of printed alongside Jungle. The print that Wartortle would of come from would not of, it was already out of print.

    Its also a very unlikely error, the symbols are part of the card. I could of believed this came from a Jungle mess up and not base set if it wasn't a first edition shadowless.

    I really think you need to adjust your attitude, there's no reason to be a rude brat because somebody tried to help you identify the source and legitimacy of your card. If you don#t want the truth then don't post here to people who know their stuff.


    Edit In fact, who has told you it's worth "thousands of dollars"? Why don't you put your money where your mouth is and send it to get PSA graded? See what the professionals think?
